I just tore through this chapter! You know how in cinema during a heated argument, they'll do progressively more intense close-ups of each person during the fight -- well that's what I saw. The rage and desperation...you used the word electric. Damn straight.
This part is sad too: Michael stared at David and tried to work up enough moisture in his mouth to respond that he did care, he did, so much so that it staggered him and more than he had cared about anything else in years, but everything that he said at this point was only going to ring tinny and false.
